With numerous locations scattered around the St. John’s area, Marie’s Mini Mart is a chain of convenience stores popular with both residents and robbers. A staple of the nightly newscast, a stick-up at a Marie’s is about as common as fog in the forecast.
Their continued popularity lends credence to those who doubt the existence of bad publicity. But if they ever decide to shed their image as an easy target by beefing up security, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to shed with it their old logo which has barely changed since the first location opened its doors in the 1970s.
I took it upon myself to imagine what a reconceptualized identity might look like for a brand that has every reason to harken back to an earlier era, with all of the comforts that only nostalgia and fresh baked goods can deliver.
